MOLLY RINGWALD AND ALLY SHEEDY WELCOME OCASIO-CORTEZ TO ‘THE BREAKFAST CLUB’ AFTER VIDEO GOES VIRAL

Actresses Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy hosted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) to join “The Breakfast Club” after an old video surfaced of the newly sworn congresswoman mimicking choreography from the 1980s film in an attempt to smear her.

‘That’s it, Alexandria you’re in the club!’ Ringwald said in a tweet Thursday, which also featured the “#DemsTakeTheHouse” hashtag.

The welcome came a day after the release of a clip edited eight years ago showing then-college student Ocasio-Cortez dancing with friends on a Boston University rooftop, which she graduated from. in 2011 a degree in economics and international relations.

In the video, Ocasio-Cortez and her friends could be seen imitating dance scenes from popular 1980s films, including ‘The Breakfast Club’.

The video originally resurfaced in a tweet purporting to be an attack on the Democrat from the account @AnonymousQ1776, which has since been deleted, with the caption: ‘Here is America’s favorite count, know-it-all, acting like the clueless asshole she is.’

But the clip instead prompted a fierce defense of his moves online, including rookie Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), who tweeted in support of Ocasio-Cortez earlier this week.

“If we can’t dance, it’s not our revolution,” Omar said, referring to the Ocasio-Cortez tweet with his new dance video.

Ocasio-Cortez also commented on the emergence of the video in a statement to The Hill on Friday.

“It’s not normal for elected officials to have a reputation for dancing well and I’m happy to be one,” said the New York Democrat.

“I think it’s funny what is considered disqualifying. It’s no surprise to me that Republicans think having fun should be disqualifying or illegal,” she continued.
